Robert Tierman saved $163.82 and 1020 watts!

Savings - $ and kWh

Compact flourescent bulbs use 25% of the energy of old fashioned incandescent bulbs.

Robert Tierman swapped out 1360 watts of incandescent bulbs for just 340 watts of CFs, saving 1020 watts of electricity!

If those lights are on for just four hours per day... the annual cost is reduced to $54.6 from $218.42, for a total savings of $163.82!

Big Picture Math

According the the Energy Information Administration, there are over 107 million households in the U.S with each consuming approximately 940 kWh of electricity annually for lighting. That's over 100 billion kWh!  At an average cost of $0.11 per kWh, we spend over $11 billion annually just on lighting!

If every household in America replaced their incandescent bulbs with CFs, we'd save 75 billion kWh or enough to power another 7.5 million homes. That's a lot of energy.
